Hello.
We are Realworld, a playable content platform that leads the latest experience trends and directly creates experiential killer content.

Today, we're sharing news about a special lecture on the latest tourism trends at the nighttime tourism revitalization forum, held at the invitation of Gwangju Metropolitan City, a specialized nighttime tourism city.

Wait a moment!
What exactly is a specialized nighttime tourism city?

The specialized nighttime tourism city project is an initiative by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization that connects various tourism resources and stories to existing nighttime tourism attractions, aimed at attracting tourists during nighttime hours for extended-stay tourism.

In 2022, Incheon Metropolitan City and Tongyeong City were selected,
In 2023, Daejeon Metropolitan City, Busan Metropolitan City, Gangneung City, Jeonju City, and Jinju City were chosen,
In 2024, Gongju City, Yeosu City, and Seongju County were added, bringing the total to 10 cities selected as specialized nighttime tourism cities so far.

The content in specialized nighttime tourism cities up until now has mainly consisted of similar offerings such as media art using lights during nighttime hours and candlelight displays.

However, a problem emerged that light-based content like nighttime landscapes has low appeal when it comes to showcasing the unique stories and charms of each of the 10 different cities.

Particularly, there were clear limitations in terms of tourist dwell time, which is the main objective of the specialized nighttime tourism city project.

Therefore, at Gwangju Metropolitan City's nighttime tourism revitalization forum, we took time to find solutions that would allow tourists to become active participants rather than mere observers, enabling them to spend more time at locations.

It was truly a meaningful time where we examined innovative experiential content cases from home and abroad, including Realworld's playable content, while learning about and discussing the latest tourism trends and engaging in Q&A sessions.

Given the significance of this occasion, it was organized as a meaningful gathering where various officials from Gwangju Tourism Organization, Gwangju City, and Dong-gu District (which is preparing for a tourism brand launch ceremony) came together for the tourism revitalization of Gwangju Metropolitan City.

The core keywords from that day's special lecture on the latest tourism trends can be summarized into two: narrative and role.

What kind of narrative and role do you feel from each of the 10 specialized nighttime tourism cities selected since 2022?

Unfortunately, it's not easy for tourists who visit these areas to recall the narrative and role they directly felt and experienced when visiting the regions.

Realworld, a playable content platform, creates stories for each region and space, making visitors stay at tourist destinations while performing game-like roles as protagonists in those stories.

Because they have experiences as if they've become celebrities in variety shows, they naturally go viral with their experiences at tourist destinations, which greatly contributes to regional tourism revitalization.

Among many domestic and international nighttime tourism revitalization cases, we examined in detail digital treasure hunt cases that are gaining worldwide attention by integrating with the latest technology, and immersive theater cases where people become active protagonists in plays while interacting with actors.

To become a regional extended-stay tourist destination bustling with people, we now need to make people the protagonists of stories, rather than focusing on hardware-centered buildings or workshop cafes in alleys.

The main keyword for nighttime tourism is no longer light, but rather role and narrative.

Conveying these two keywords that are important for future tourism - role and narrative - we conclude today's news about the special lecture on the latest tourism trends held in Gwangju Metropolitan City.

Realworld, as a playable content platform, provides solutions with 3rd generation experiential content across various fields including leisure, tourism, culture, space, and education.
