Hello. This is Realworld. On February 5th, 2024, Realworld's new offline space will arrive. Is it the second branch of 'Realworld Seongsu'? Or perhaps a pop-up store?

It's actually a unique experience space called 'Realworld Clue Seongsu'. The name alone might not be easy to understand, right? We think our subscribers are also curious about what kind of space 'Realworld Clue Seongsu' is and how it differs from 'Realworld Seongsu'.

To explain what 'Realworld Clue Seongsu' is, we first need to understand 'Realworld Clue'. 'Realworld Clue' is Realworld's mystery content brand that combines the existing 'Real Crime Scene' and 'Murder Mystery' genre content. 'Realworld Clue' typically involves multiple players who take on different roles to uncover the perpetrator of a criminal case or complete the story's ending in a game format.

In other words, you can think of 'Realworld Clue Seongsu' as a playground where you can enjoy 'Realworld Clue' as offline content.

'Realworld Clue Seongsu' is composed of attractive spaces and content. How was this space created? To commemorate the opening of 'Realworld Clue Seongsu', let's meet the UniqueGood members who created this place and explore the stories behind the space and content.

We asked the Design Solution team who handled the space design. The questions were answered by designers Kim Jayoon, Kim Heesu, and Park Soohyun from the Design Solution team (in alphabetical order).

Q. What is the design identity of the space called 'Realworld Clue Seongsu'?

A. (Heesu) Realworld Clue Seongsu is divided into three rooms. We designed each room with different concepts to give a fresh feeling even to repeat visitors. Overall, it's related to 'crime' and the point color is 'red'.

Let me explain each room: The first room has a 'detective office' concept. We expressed the detective's anguish in the process of receiving requests and solving cases. The second room is an 'interrogation room'. True to its concept, it's a room for interrogating criminals, and we created an oppressive atmosphere by installing many CCTVs. The third room is a 'warehouse'. At first glance, it might look like an ordinary warehouse, but it's filled with secret documents and strange props that catch your eye one by one.

Q. The first theme of 'Realworld Clue Seongsu' is 'The Yoon Ik-dae Battalion Murder Case', which was also popular in the existing Realworld series. What are the design differences between the online app content and the physical content?

A. (Jayoon) We created it by capturing the atmosphere shown in the existing online content, so there aren't major design differences. If I had to point out a difference, it would be that the important clues in the game are handed to you as cards rather than being items on screen. Just like paper books have a charm different from e-books when you actually turn the pages, we expect players to enjoy holding and examining cards designed to implement the game atmosphere.

Q. What was the most challenging aspect of implementing 'Realworld Clue Seongsu'?

A. (Heesu) It was a bit challenging because we had to create everything by hand ourselves. Even though each room had different concepts, we needed to reveal the identity unique to 'Realworld Clue Seongsu', so we set red as the point color. This meant we had to create all props with combinations like 'brown + red', 'white + red', 'black + red', etc. We didn't have time to wait for overseas shipping, and since not all the props we envisioned were available for purchase, we did a lot of post-processing after buying items. Also, to reduce costs, we did the construction work ourselves even for things that required professional expertise, which led to many failures.

A. (Soohyun) For me, creating variation in the space was the most challenging. Since the location where we set up Clue is adjacent to office space, I wanted people to feel something different as soon as they entered Clue. When it was completely empty, Heesu and I really thought it was overwhelming, but fortunately, as we filled it up piece by piece, the atmosphere came together. We hope our intentions are felt by the players who visit.

Q. What kind of experience do you want players to have at 'Realworld Clue Seongsu'?

A. (Soohyun) I hope the space we created enhances the immersion of Clue gameplay. It's a space we put a lot of thought into so it would suit any story. Additionally, I hope it becomes an experience space that goes beyond just gameplay. Like the 'Realworld Seongsu' we created before, it would be great if people could enjoy playing, take photos, and take Clue home as a memory. It would be even better if it makes them want to come back multiple times.

Q. If other branches of 'Realworld Clue Seongsu' were to open, what kind of space would you like to create?

A. (Heesu) In terms of space design, we have no objections. We think the current mood aligns well with what we're pursuing. However, we'd like to design a space with better accessibility and clear separation between rooms to enhance the player experience even more.

Q. Finally, if you have anything you'd like to say, please share.

A. (Heesu) Although we started with many concerns due to the project's constraints, collaborating with Soohyun allowed us to realize more than we expected. It was work that brought more satisfaction because we could see the space being upgraded in real-time by discussing even the smallest details together.

A. (Soohyun) Thanks to the UniqueGood members who helped. And to my best partner Heesu. 👍
