Career Exploration and Personal Growth at Real World Seongsu, Youth Group Experiential Learning

An Afternoon Spent by Dream Tarae School Children at Real World Seongsu

Last July, about 20 students and teachers came to Real World Seongsu for youth experiential learning.

School-type institutions that operate Seoul career specialization, personal growth, talent development, and language programs have recently been exploring Real World Seongsu as a new space for student group experiential learning. Teachers recognize that children need time to discover themselves through hands-on experience, not just lectures. In our changing times, we sought out Real World Seongsu to find new content experiences.

Real World is a next-generation unique experiential space where participants can experience diverse content based on technology offline. Here, participants are not just listeners to stories but become the main characters in the stories, and through the integration of various immersive technologies, they directly experience the immersion devices within the narratives.

Whether they are students, new employees at large corporations, department heads, or teachers, visitors to this place spontaneously start sharing what they discover with their team without being told, take photos and review them, and when stuck, they gather together and put their heads together. Even quiet students sometimes throw out critical hints. Today's children from Dream Tarae School were the same. After just over an hour, the initial awkwardness disappeared, and active participation and teamwork in achieving collaborative problem-solving took hold.

As children work together to solve experiential problems, each child reveals themselves in different ways. There's the child who carefully notes down clues one by one, the child who draws the big picture first, the child who brings the scattered team back together, and the child who comes up with quirky hypotheses others haven't thought of. This information never comes out from a single aptitude test sheet. Career exploration ultimately starts from knowing who you are, and when that discovery happens through real experience, it lasts much longer.

The same goes for communication, problem-solving skills, and leadership. When you learn through explanation, they're just words, but when you experience them through clashing with teammates, they stay with you.

There's also an emotional aspect. When a withdrawn student decisively helped their team with a clue they found, seeing that expression makes you realize it's better than any words of encouragement.

It's Not Just About Having the Experience

A group visit to Real World Seongsu can be structured as simply playing one piece of content and leaving, but additional programs can be added depending on the organization's goals.

Interactive workshops are one such addition. A program called Word Challenge involves solving QR missions scattered throughout the space to collect words, then having team members complete a sentence with those words. Corporations use this with the theme of organizational core values, while for youth we modify it to themes like what our class wants to protect, my strengths, and the person I want to become in the future. We've also run this the same way in Green Umbrella Foundation youth programs and Korea Scholarship Foundation and Lotte Scholarship Foundation college courses.

Beyond that, there are workshops like Anticipated Hacking where teams collaborate by connecting clues, Mars Escape where crisis situations naturally reveal role division and leadership, and Genius Challenge that combines logic and deduction. We can operate everything from small groups of about 10 people to groups of 400 simultaneously, so grade-level programs are possible too.

We often add special lectures as well. The content covers how career paths and education are changing in the AI era, and it definitely sounds different when placed on top of experiences kids have already gone through physically. Unique Good Company CEO Song In-hyuk leads this, and we have a track record of conducting it multiple times at education offices and schools.

Where Our Visitors Come From

We mainly receive visits from alternative education consignment institutions, out-of-school youth support centers, youth training centers, career experience support centers, elementary, middle, and high schools preparing free semester programs or career exploration programs, and teachers planning club activities and after-school programs.

Their purposes vary somewhat. Some come for career exploration, others for self-understanding or personal growth, peer relationship building, problem-solving skills and leadership, or sometimes the goal is the experiential learning itself based on the latest technology. What's consistent across all visitors is that children don't get bored.
