Hello. We are Realworld, a playable content platform. In the early morning hours of Saturday, October 26th, a massive treasure hunt event called 'ANOTHER WORLD: Hide and Seek' was held in collaboration between Lotte World, Yanolja, and Realworld. We'd like to share with you the spectacular sight of Lotte World Adventure in Jamsil, Seoul, filled with over 6,000 participants, and the significance of this event.
What is 'ANOTHER WORLD: Hide and Seek'?
'ANOTHER WORLD: Hide and Seek' is a collaborative project between three companies: Lotte World, Yanolja, and Realworld. During this event, which ran from 11 PM on Friday, October 25th to 5 AM on Saturday, October 26th, participants could enjoy six nighttime attractions and also take part in a digital treasure hunt from 1 AM to 3 AM on the 26th. For the treasure hunt event, we utilized Realworld's treasure hunting solution called 'Real Treasure'.
Lotte World becomes the stage for treasure hunting
Starting at 11 PM on the 25th, Lotte World began bustling with people. We heard that over 6,000 tickets were sold through advance booking, and seeing it in person was truly incredible. Before the treasure hunt officially began, guests enjoyed the autumn night theme park with nighttime attractions and performances. Then, as 1 AM on the 26th approached, a countdown video played on the large screen, and soon Lotte World transformed into the stage for a massive treasure hunt.
'ANOTHER WORLD: Hide and Seek' was conducted using the Realworld app to tag NFC treasures hidden throughout Lotte World. Participants were remarkably quick at finding the carefully hidden treasures. With so many participants, there were amusing scenes of people lining up to tag treasures. Before the program started, we thought customers would flock more to the nighttime attractions, but the participation rate exceeded expectations, leaving even the on-site staff amazed.
Evolution into a 'theme park without attractions'
While Lotte World Adventure itself is packed with attractions, Realworld made maximum use of Lotte World's unused spaces. We utilized previously underutilized areas like corridors and benches, allowing participants to experience 100% of Lotte World's space. Additionally, according to our own tally, 93% of all visitors tagged at least one treasure. At this point, it's fair to say people visited Lotte World for the treasure hunt rather than the nighttime attractions.
Ironically, in Lotte World filled with attractions, Realworld implemented a theme park without rides.
The participants' activities were also remarkable. With competitive elements of finding treasures, collecting points, and ranking, participants moved faster than anyone else, and the leaderboard rankings changed in real-time. Participants showed dedication in finding and tagging treasures right up until the 3 AM deadline for the treasure hunt event.
Substantial prize money will be awarded: 5 million won for 1st place, 3 million won for 2nd place, and 2 million won for 3rd place. Beyond the prize money, participants who found treasures and collected points were given lottery opportunities. All Yanolja points (10,000 won to 500,000 won) provided through random draws were claimed, and rewards like keyrings and hair bands were also popular.
Confirming potential integration with various cultural festivals
Perhaps because 'ANOTHER WORLD: Hide and Seek' was an event ahead of Halloween, we could easily spot participants dressed in various costumes. Since Realworld's 'Real Treasure' solution is actively used for festivals other than Halloween, it proved that treasure hunt events can be integrated with various festivals.
However, given the large number of participants, we wondered how it would have been if a wider space had been provided. Also, while ranking-based competition can be a fun element, providing diverse programs for the majority of participants to enjoy remains a challenge. There were also hiccups with temporary network paralysis due to excessive traffic at the start of the treasure hunt, and occasional NFC errors occurred, revealing areas for improvement. Still, considering the large crowd, participants maintained good order and followed the on-site staff's guidance well, so 'ANOTHER WORLD: Hide and Seek' concluded safely without any accidents.
While there are many areas to improve, we find it encouraging that we were able to attract 6,000 people with a treasure hunt product. For Realworld, it was an opportunity to gain experience operating large-scale events and obtain various insights from the field. Though there are still shortcomings, we will continue to show you Realworld's evolving presence. We ask for your continued support. Thank you.
