Hello, I'm WHY, a planner at UniqueGood Company. Although February 2020 is coming to an end, the chilly weather continues, making it still too early for spring to arrive. For this reason, winter is somewhat disappointing for Realworld, which involves traveling to various locations to complete diverse missions and quests. Moreover, with the recent outbreak of COVID-19, it's also frightening to go outside.

However, various projects are underway for homebodies who prefer to spend their leisure time at home. The recently launched 'Over the Rainbow' and 'Chaotic Pizza Place' are mobile-type projects that can be enjoyed regardless of location. And the topic of this post is 'AGENT X Spinoff Double Team (hereinafter 'Double Team')' planned by planner WHY.

Where does the name 'Double Team' come from?

The title 'Double Team' was taken from the movie 'Double Team' starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dennis Rodman. Since I watched it on TV as a child, my memory is a bit hazy, but I remember it being a buddy movie where two different characters, Van Damme and Rodman, formed a team. While we borrowed the name, not only this 'Double Team' but various movies exist where multiple characters join forces to carry out missions. Spy movies are a prime example.

What's the concept of 'Double Team'?

In spy movies, field agents who operate on a global stage often become the protagonists. And while field agents work hard, there are also office agents in the rear who reliably support them. These two entities cannot exist without each other. They must unite for a single mission. When I thought, 'What if there was a game where field agents and rear support agents team up to solve missions?' the theme of 'Double Team' began to take shape. Fortunately, among Realworld's existing content, there was 'RIS: Stop the Dark Organization's Conspiracy,' which had a spy concept, so I was able to plan it as a spinoff.

Beyond just the concept, I also wanted to bring mechanical changes. Instead of solving puzzles or quizzes like existing Realworld games, 'Double Team' was designed as a format where agents and operators exchange information with each other to carry out missions. Since it's a new format, I'm curious how it will be received by our players. I hope it comes across as fresh and entertaining.

How can you enjoy 'Double Team' more?

Have you ever heard of party games? As the name suggests, they're light and fun games suitable for parties or drinking gatherings. They typically have characteristics like '1) Multiple people must participate, 2) Rules and mechanics shouldn't be too difficult, 3) Play time should be short, around 20-30 minutes, 4) Most importantly, everyone participating should have fun.' Like these party games, I hope 'Double Team' will be played lightly and enjoyably with many people. 'Double Team' is fun for both players and spectators. 'Double Team' is designed so that agents and operators absolutely cannot complete missions without sharing information with each other. I wanted to deliver a message about how we can communicate and collaborate in situations of information asymmetry. How should we work together? How should we communicate?
