I'm sharing the amazing content and inspiration I experienced during my Jeju insight trip this spring.
In this post, I'll compare two popular destinations that many people visit: the media art Arte Museum and Nohyeong Supermarket!
Jeju Media Art: Where Should You Go?
To summarize briefly, each has the following characteristics:
Arte Museum: Familiar masterpieces, interesting use of space, unique Jeju-specific content
Nohyeong Supermarket: Immersive storytelling, overwhelming scale, close to Jeju Airport
Let me start by explaining Arte Museum with photos.
Photo Spots Everywhere, A Fantasy Land
Arte Museum was a place where you could enjoy beautiful and fantastical visual pleasures!
Using mirrors to make the space appear much larger than it actually is, you could encounter refreshing cascading waves and magical fairyland-like spaces!
There was even a space that created visual effects that felt like falling into a wormhole!
But what makes Arte Museum special is
Newly unfolding masterpieces and Jeju's landscapes!
Arte's large screens transform with various concepts like Jeju, masterpieces, and waves.
It becomes a ballroom where elegant music accompanies masterpieces...
Sometimes it guided us into Jeju's beautiful nature!
With 'Jeju's Blue Night' BGM playing...
Jeju's morning, Jeju's day, Jeju's sunset, and Jeju's night unfolded-
Arte Museum can also be found in Gangneung and Yeosu besides Jeju.
They say each location features exhibition content that captures the local scenery.
This gives us continuous reasons to visit Jeju Arte, Gangneung Arte, and Yeosu Arte separately!
It was time to understand why Jeju Arte is so famous-
So how is Nohyeong Supermarket different from Arte?
Nohyeong Supermarket begins with this one sentence.
The supermarket located in Nohyeong-dong, Jeju City
has lost its colors
Even the cafe has no color to stay true to the concept...
Planners go crazy for this place that's serious about storytelling and serious about details...
Finding such a clever item on the stairs leading to the entrance, I was already starting to immerse myself in the concept🤩
Nohyeong Supermarket is like a theater production,
where people wait together and enter according to guidance.
Once inside, there was a supermarket with that authentic old-school vibe!
Just as I was marveling at the colorless supermarket...
light begins to flow into the supermarket's radio
and it starts telling a story...
Then the door opens,
and we go to the world beyond where we search for color.
Passing through the corridor, we arrived at...
a spacious performance hall!
The spectacular light show that finally filled the space
was incredibly beautiful.
Nohyeong Supermarket boasts the largest scale
among domestic media art exhibition halls.
The media art filling this massive space
provides an overwhelming sensation I've never experienced before.
Stairs and seating areas were well-equipped,
and the different views from the top and bottom floors
allowed us to walk around the space and feel
different sensations.
Arte Museum and Nohyeong Supermarket had
completely different personalities.
Arte Museum had the advantage of showcasing familiar masterpieces and Jeju's unique landscapes.
Nohyeong Supermarket had considerable immersion through its overwhelmingly large space and storytelling haha
Even with the same 'media art,' it's fascinating how the content experience becomes completely new depending on how it's expressed!
Realworld is also preparing to open an offline space soon.
It was a time to think about what kind of experience we can deliver to our visitors.
