Today,
I'd like to introduce the participatory team-building educational program <Mars Escape>
that took place at the beautiful Jeju Haevichi Hotel.
Wait, Mars Escape
at Jeju Haevichi out of nowhere?
This is <Mars Escape>, one of Realworld's participatory educational content programs where you directly experience collaboration, communication, and collective impact through hands-on activities.
The story goes like this:
Our team becomes stranded while exploring the mysterious planet Mars due to severe weather conditions.
According to weather forecasts, an even bigger sandstorm is approaching.
Time remaining: 1 hour! Quickly find the main base and request rescue to escape!
One leader guides the story,
while the rest of the team members share information and begin the mission.
I'm sure everyone knows that communication, teamwork, and collaboration
are consistently the top training priorities in companies.
They're important precisely because
they're so challenging.
Even though it's difficult,
these are essential keywords for any organization,
which is why the following topics can never be omitted
from corporate training:
Teamwork
Collaboration
Communication
However,
without this type of participatory education,
the biggest problem is that these topics become nothing more than
boring, feel-good slogans.
We hate cramming-style education!
But companies often
look for alternative solutions because
there simply aren't many participatory workshop contents
focused on teamwork and communication themes.
Domino stacking
Dominoes
Drawing
Pottery making
Group physical activities
Even
lantern releasing
...
It seems like educational content
can't keep up with the rapidly changing pace of society!
So today's topic is
an interactive workshop that combines cutting-edge immersive technology with experiential content.
It's <Mars Escape>, where our team, stranded due to severe weather,
solves various missions and overcomes situations through teamwork!
The biggest characteristic of <Mars Escape> is that
every member of the same team plays a very important role.
Each member is given different information,
and missions can only be solved
through communication
and collaboration between team members!
This happens a lot in actual work situations, right?
The first mission is
to find out the name of the base!
What you need to know the base's name are
location codes and Mars surface maps.
When you first start this training,
you might even miss that you have the location code.
So what happens then?
Our team members could get trapped
and die in the massive sandstorm.
That's why, without a single free rider,
everyone must stay alert and focused.
Because
each person's role doesn't exist in isolation
but is connected to teammates,
everyone must concentrate
to achieve our common final goal:
escaping the base before
the bigger sandstorm hits!
With about 100 representatives and members from Shinhan Financial and various other companies and institutions at Jeju Haevichi, shall we start this training?
The collective impact program <Mars Escape>, combining smart immersive technology and gamification, begins now!
At the Haevichi presentation that day,
about 100 participants of various ages joined the event,
directly experiencing collective impact with teammates and learning through hands-on
interactive workshops.
First, we assign individual roles, which are most important for teamwork~
Now let's begin!
The biggest characteristic of Realworld's educational content is that
these ultra-focused situations occur very naturally.
Because participants want to solve problems so badly
and the immersion level of the educational process itself is so high,
their bodies lift off their chairs and hover in mid-air.
After completing all missions,
all team members create this star shape together
to send the base escape rescue signal,
and the mission is cleared.
The star of collaboration!
Not only does it look beautiful as a symbol of teamwork,
but the biggest feature is that you can experience teamwork and collaboration physically
rather than through rigid, cramming-style education in a short training period.
After finishing the entire lecture,
a detailed wrap-up presentation follows,
explaining why organizations emphasize collaboration,
what collective impact is,
and its conditions.
The 5 Requirements of Collective Impact
Common Agenda
Shared Measurement Systems
Mutually Reinforcing Activities
Continuous Communication
Backbone Support Organizations
Everyone has probably heard of these,
and they align with the message requirements
that all companies systematically organize
and continuously strengthen.
However, because these are both difficult and important,
they're mainly conducted in:
Company-wide member workshops
Vision achievement training
Organizational culture improvement activities
Startup accelerating networking days
Startup programs emphasizing collective impact
Today,
we learned about the teamwork collaboration experiential content <Mars Escape>,
which combines smart immersive technology and gamification
to directly experience collective impact during training time.
The greatest advantage of combining games and education is that
it enables active learning where trainees become the protagonists,
rather than boring, low-interest passive education.
