I'm a bright-eyed new employee who hasn't even been here for 3 weeks yet~
I've been having truly extraordinary experiences every morning lately.
As soon as I open my eyes in the morning
I get to go to work today~ I'm excited!
Having thoughts like this!!!
I wonder what percentage of Koreans actually enjoy going to work every morning?
My guess is it's probably less than 5% haha
From that perspective, I think I can say I'm extremely lucky(?)
So now let me tell you why our company has become such a place you want to go to~?!!
Work = Play?!
Do you all know the term 'Homo Ludens'?
Homo Ludens means 'playing person,' a concept proposed by Dutch scholar Huizinga.
It can apply to both humans and animals, and alongside the ability to think, the third most important ability is
the ability to play.
Moreover, Korea has never traditionally thought of play as something opposed to work~
This probably reflects our folk culture of singing while farming.
I think all employees at our company are Homo Ludens, that is, playing people (❁´▽`❁)
For example, playing games while making games (obviously, but we enjoy it while doing it!)
Taking time during lunch break to play board games, or
sharing tons of interesting work-related materials!!!
How could you not want to work?
Do you know the board game called Dalmuti?
It's a game where you can experience the rich-get-richer, poor-get-poorer dynamics of a class society..
Thanks to that, I was in the slave class for two consecutive rounds...haha..
When one of our employees creates a game, other employees often play it.
I suppose it's because we need feedback from as many people as possible to release a good game?
I also made a game, and everyone jumped in to solve the problems together ٩('ᗜ'*)و
Anyway, our company has this culture where work is play, and play is work!! Isn't that charming?
The world is a giant playground, and we are all players!
This is our game's slogan, and isn't it cool?
Just like this slogan, I think our organizational culture where work and play are one also realizes the company's vision and values.
Work = Self-Development?!!
The second reason I want to come to work is
because of the various studies our company is conducting~
Currently, there are 2 studies in progress.
A reading study and a publishing study are actively underway!!
The reading study is every Tuesday at 5 PM,
and the publishing study is every Monday and Thursday at 6 PM.
You ask when we find time for studies when we're busy with work?!
Everyone makes time for it... amazing people...
Since I'm still new and don't have much work, I'm managing somehow,
but I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep up when I get busier haha
Anyway, as someone who loves reading, having team members to read and discuss books with is another special charm.
The book we read this time was <How Experience Becomes Business>.
As a company leading the experience industry! We can't afford not to know about experience?!
So through our reading study, we gain many insights about the company's branding and
the direction the company should move forward :)
The second study is... the dreaded publishing study,
and since we're a game-making company, knowledge about publishing
seems to be required not just for developers but also for designers and planners to some extent.
If we understand what process the apps we plan and design go through to reach actual consumers,
wouldn't we be able to create better content?! That's the idea.
From this perspective, I think it's a really meaningful study.
I didn't know it was twice a week,
so I kind of... regretted it ( ･ᴗ ･̥̥̥ )
Thanks to that, my computer is in this state today too.
I'm not a developer but... I might get misunderstood haha
Anyway! Our company where you can faithfully pursue self-development through reading study and publishing study!!
Now you understand why you'd want to come here~?~?
Even if it's Monday morning instead of Thursday or Friday morning~
The power that lets you easily wake up and prepare for the day!
