We're already approaching the end of 2023.
Thank you for all your hard work this year!
Today, I'd like to introduce the '2024 Domestic Tourism Trends' announced by the Korea Tourism Organization.
While this has already been covered through various news channels, the interpretations seemed to miss the mark in properly reflecting the trends, so I'll provide a trend analysis with UniqueGood's insights!
The organization named the tourism trends of the past three years as ROUTE, announcing five categories: ▲Travel with rest, ▲One-point travel, ▲My own special place travel, ▲Smart technology-based travel, ▲Travel open to everyone.
The ROUTE trends were derived through the Korea Tourism Data Lab by collecting three years of mobile communication, card consumption, and social data, plus trends extracted through surveys of 1,000 experts and consumers.
But! Does this really constitute a trend? I wonder.
Those with keen insight will understand - the trend categories and detailed explanations seem to include somewhat 'excessive?' interpretations.
So let me reorganize and explain this in a way that's easier to understand.
Here's my reinterpretation of the five ROUTE trends - this makes more sense, right? To summarize:
UniqueGood Insight:
People are envisioning and enjoying increasingly 'unique experiences' when they travel.
Therefore, destinations that offer 'newer' and 'more distinctive experiences' will stand out, and experiences that allow the people traveling with me to become the protagonists will be chosen.
Above all, travel trends continue to evolve based on environments where these experiences can be enjoyed and shared together.
We enjoy games daily and frequently use platforms like YouTube and Netflix that provide thrilling stories. The lifestyle of immediately looking away and seeking something else when things aren't fun is becoming established. What about travel and tourism? They need to either provide the overwhelming impact of 'rest,' 'pause,' and 'amazement' that's completely different from games and movies, or offer something as entertaining as games and films. It's clear that predictable spaces, predictable events, and predictable festivals cannot capture people's attention.
That's why it's important to pay attention to lifestyle trends and experience trends for 2024.
UniqueGood will continue to share and communicate noteworthy trends going forward.
