Hello, this is Realworld.
Today, we're bringing you news about a special lecture by Mr. Song In-hyuk, CEO of UniqueGood Company, who was the finale speaker at Create Seongsu Festival, the most talked-about urban festival of 2023.
CEO Song In-hyuk's lecture theme was
the future of entertainment, future changes in cultural leisure and play
– that massive trend under the topic of innovation in experience.
It was the grand finale of the Creative Seongsu Conference field and at the same time, it truly made you exclaim 'This is what a highlight stage should be!'
Creative Seongsu was an urban festival held for the first time in 2023.
Living up to Seoul's reputation as the hippest place these days,
it reminded me of Austin's SXSW.
South by Southwest (SXSW)
Also,
CEO Song In-hyuk's lecture theme of
the future of entertainment
was a place where you could not only witness firsthand
that innovative scene where people become protagonists themselves
and directly experience content,
but also become a player yourself and experience it.
While most festivals stay within one spot, zone, or booth,
this was a way of experiencing different areas of the city
by moving around various locations according to playable IP routes.
At Realworld Seongsu, the new concept cultural play space,
those who purchased Play Ticket Seongsu
became daily agents to explore spaces throughout Seongsu
and capture three aliens that supposedly only appear at festivals!
If you try this content,
you'll probably be able to experience CEO Song In-hyuk's lecture theme
with your own body.
Rather than space defining content,
content makes the city and festival space where I am different –
by experiencing playable IP Realworld,
festival participants can have
fun experiences they've only seen in variety shows!
Doesn't it look really fun?
These people don't look like it, but
they've become daily agents capturing aliens.
CEO Song In-hyuk's lecture theme of
future leisure methods and the appearance of tourism play and entertainment
can be expressed in one phrase:
content-centered technology convergence where
'I become the protagonist.'
In the photos above,
you can see players who each become protagonists themselves,
roaming around Seongsu to capture aliens, right?
That's why I really resonated with the opening of the lecture:
it's not that space defines content,
but content defines that space.
Content determines experience
and content defines space

Do you all attend many urban festivals in Korea?
Music festivals are places to listen to music,
exhibitions and expos are places to view,
local urban festivals are places to introduce regional specialties –
maybe these images come to mind first in our heads.
I quietly think about it.
If flower festivals became places to experience
rather than just places to see flowers and take photos,
if Hangang Night Goblin Night Market became a place to experience
rather than just a place to enjoy riverside breeze and eat food truck food,
if streets with cafes and restaurants became places to experience
rather than just food-centered streets,
that could solve many problems.
People would travel more to domestic local regions
rather than overseas,
solving regional economic small business revitalization,
naturally creating regional jobs and youth jobs,
and furthermore becoming a clue to solving
the grand proposition of regional extinction.
The future of entertainment speaks of
an era where I become the protagonist.
People now demand special experiences
beyond just taking verification shots,
visiting spots,
and eating at restaurants.
But when we want special experiences in spaces,
when we want special experiences at festivals,
when we want special experiences while traveling,
what service do we think of?
The message that this area is empty and there's a business opportunity there
was truly a wise saying.
Urban festivals,
planning various cultural events,
and even space innovation –
The story that the first element to consider most importantly in all this entertainment
is story, not technology, was also really impressive.
The core of future entertainment and culture
is playable IP stories before technology

Especially in today's lecture theme,
the insight about space innovation was given significant weight.
After the COVID era
and what appeals more to today's digital natives
wasn't virtual reality but the real world –
the actual world we live in.
Just as the older generation lived and then encountered the digital world as a new continent,
for the MZ generation, which already makes up over 70% of the population,
the real world is a new continent.
Therefore, the message was that special experiences where I become the protagonist
in real spaces, not virtual spaces,
are market opportunities and future trends.
Thinking about it, during COVID,
VR experiences where avatars replaced us in virtual spaces had a brief moment,
but now metaverse talk seems to have disappeared like a mirage.
The current generation demands special experiences in real spaces,
and if content defines space,
then boring exhibition halls and one-way museums,
regional festivals specialized in food and photo-taking,
idle spaces with unclear uses,
all those places lined with large cafes that need special experience spaces beyond food and drink –
I thought all of these could be innovatively transformed.
When content is filled,
wherever that space is,
everyone can have different experiences,
and that would increase space dwell time
and induce return visits rather than ending with one-time visits.
Tourism,
content,
culture,
spaces,
festivals –
In an era where everyone is contemplating how to provide experiences in spaces,
CEO Song In-hyuk's lecture from UniqueGood Company
under the major theme of future entertainment
was truly insight itself!
Experience content suited to today's times,
concerns about space innovation,
K-content and tourism,
for everyone concerned with future tourism and future entertainment,
it was time with value worth listening to at least once.
This urban festival that turned all of Seongsu into a theme park,
held for the first time in 2023 under the name Creative Seongsu,
will be held annually,
so those who missed this year's opportunity, please wait for the 2024 special lecture!
We'll see you again with good news
