Over 3,000 participants flocked to the former Gyeonggi Provincial Government building,
The scene of the world's largest treasure hunt competition 'Real Treasure Festival'
More than 3,000 people gathered for the world's largest treasure hunt competition 'Real Treasure Festival: Former Gyeonggi Provincial Government Building Edition'! We were worried whether people would actually come to this place that had been long abandoned, but our concerns were unfounded as over 5,000 people applied within just a few days of the pre-registration website going live, leading to early closure due to overwhelming response. We were also concerned about low attendance due to continuous rain and cold weather around the festival date, but this worry was also unnecessary. People had genuinely transformed into treasure hunters, making thorough preparations before the competition began! (Families and friends were seriously strategizing together) Shall we take a look at that exciting festival scene together?
Pre-event warm-up with various side activities
including mini-games and performances
The main treasure hunt program was scheduled to start at 1 PM.
For hunters who arrived earlier, there were various side activities to warm up beforehand.
Among the diverse side events like balloon performances and musical shows, the mini-game zone was naturally the most popular. Using the Realworld app, participants could join immediately without any special preparations, drawing bustling crowds. These mini-games utilized the same NFC technology as the treasure hunt, allowing participants to test the features beforehand, which received great response.
Find 200 treasures hidden throughout the old government building and Paldal Mountain area!
Hunters entered a state of complete immersion to explore and find 200 treasures hidden throughout the old government building and Paldal Mountain trail area. Real Treasure uses immersive technology, allowing treasures to be obtained through various methods including AR, NFC, QR, and mission completion (quizzes, etc.). Normally, players can find treasure locations marked on the map, complete missions to earn points, and enjoy ranking competitions and rewards. However, since many people were participating simultaneously today, the game transformed into 'festival mode' - a 3-hour timer attack mode where treasure locations weren't displayed and hunters had to find treasures using only NFC technology.
A space that people had abandoned
transformed into a destination for thousands
The former Gyeonggi Provincial Government building had truly become deserted after the government offices moved to Gwanggyo. With over 3,000 civil servants who used to work there, plus daily visitors for civil affairs and business, when all these people stopped coming, the negative ripple effects on the local area were inevitably significant. Gyeonggi Province tried to improve the situation by hosting various local events, but with only stakeholders participating, it was simply insufficient. However, Real Treasure succeeded in completely transforming the situation. Particularly on this festival day, the vast space of tens of thousands of square meters felt small due to the bustling crowds of hunters.
This place used to be completely deserted with no visitors at all, but it's transformed to the point where you'd wonder if it was ever really like that.
A game-changer that brings people together
in an enjoyable and sustainable way
Deputy Governor Yeom Tae-young also attended the festival and participated as a Real Treasure Festival hunter. The schedule was supposed to be a brief site tour and opening ceremony declaration, but... we kept saying 'Deputy Governor? Deputy Governor? You need to declare the opening...' because he was completely absorbed in the fun of treasure hunting. We understand! Age and gender don't matter when it comes to treasure hunting. It's an experience that brings out everyone's inner child. Hunters also joked, 'I hit my daily 10,000 steps in no time - this is the ultimate exercise method.' The Deputy Governor noted on-site that numerous government events so far had focused on just 'doing something' without actual regional revitalization or economic ripple effects, but Real Treasure allows anyone to participate enjoyably and familiarly while creating sustainable impact. He even suggested expanding Real Treasure throughout Gyeonggi Province. Thank you, Deputy Governor! ^^ Realworld is accomplishing that difficult task!
Confirmation of differentiated regional revitalization and economic impact solutions
The treasure hunt's connection with local businesses creates real regional economic impact. Real Treasure supports solutions for immediate use of various reward compensations obtained from treasure acquisition. Through reasonable probability models, it provides gift certificates that can be immediately exchanged at convenience stores, discount vouchers usable at local shops, and products from social enterprises. Therefore, the more treasures hunters acquire, the more rewards they can get, keeping them exploring persistently until the very end.
After walking and running non-stop for 3 hours, wouldn't players feel extremely hungry? As they say, hunger is the best sauce - hunters can't help but notice the local business discount coupons they've earned. Tonight's dinner will be here! They gladly decide to use the registered local establishments. Twenty local merchant associations participated in this Treasure Festival and were truly delighted. Having fun while revitalizing the local area - isn't that wonderful?
